HARRIS COUNTY SCHOOL TEACHER CHOSEN FOR THE WRBL KINETIC GOLDEN APPLE AWARD

HAMILTON, GA (APRIL 4, 2023) – Jay Borden, an agricultural teacher at Harris County High School (HCHS) in Hamilton, Ga., was presented the Kinetic Credit Union Golden Apple Award in partnership with WRBL News 3.  This honor is given to educators who are nominated by the community who make a positive impact on students.

Tuesdays are when Borden takes his students to the elementary schools to teach agriculture. “We are in a rush to get attendance and get on the bus,” Borden shared. “But on this day, I was met at the door as we were leaving and told that we had to wait, and I couldn't know why. So, best made plans were changed and I was blessed with this surprising honor. I love our students and our Harris County community.”

The unnamed student who nominated Borden stated, “He is an excellent teacher, who makes class fun, and is always there for his students when they need to talk.”

As a show of support, HCHS Principal’s along with Assistant Principals Lacoy Day, Melissa Gates, and Dee Miller were present for the surprise award presentation.
