ROTARY CLUB OF HARRIS COUNTY HONORS EXEMPLARY TEACHER FOR NOVEMBER 2023
HAMILTON, GA (NOVEMBER 10, 2023) – The Rotary Club of Harris County continues its tradition of recognizing outstanding educators within the Harris County School District each month, spotlighting those who ignite a passion for learning in our youth.
This November, Zachery "Coach" Moss, a dedicated special education teacher at the Harris County School District's Educational Opportunity Center, received the honor of being named the November Teacher of the Month. Colleagues describe Coach Moss as genuine, charismatic, and deeply caring, emphasizing his natural talent for fostering positive relationships with students. -
ROTARY CLUB OF HARRIS COUNTY HONORS A HARRIS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TEACHER FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2023
HAMILTON, GA (OCTOBER 31, 2023) – Each month of the school year, the Rotary Club of Harris County honors one of the Harris County School District’s outstanding educators who inspire a love for learning in our youth.
Kim Douglass, a dedicated seventh-grade science teacher at Harris County Carver Middle School (HCCMS), was named the Teacher of the Month for October 2023. In her fourth year at HCCMS, Douglass is known for her unwavering commitment to her students and the school. -
HARRIS COUNTY TEACHER/COACH/AUTHOR RECEIVES PROCLAMATIONS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND SERVANT LEADERSHIP
HAMILTON, GA (OCTOBER 30, 2023) – In a remarkable recognition of unwavering dedication, exemplary achievements, and servant leadership, Tamara Johnson, a distinguished teacher and coach at Harris County Carver Middle School (HCCMS), was honored with prestigious proclamations from State Senator Ed Harbison and Lt. Governor Burt Jones of Georgia.
With an impressive 21-year tenure in the Harris County School District, Johnson has made an indelible impact as an educator and coach. Her extraordinary contributions include guiding students to victory in nine volleyball championships and three basketball championships, as well as positively influencing the lives of countless students throughout her illustrious career. -
HARRIS COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL DIRECTOR HONORED WITH GEORGIA-ACDA YOUNG DIRECTOR AWARD
HAMILTON, GA (OCTOBER 25, 2023) – The Harris County School District (HCSD) is proud to announce and celebrate the exceptional achievements of one of its own educators, Antoine Bray. Currently serving as the head choir director at Harris County High School (HCHS), Bray has been awarded the prestigious Georgia-American Choral Directors Association Young Director Award.
"To be back at Harris County High School doing the very thing I love so much is a blessing. To be recognized and honored for it is humbling and I'm so appreciative," Bray commented on the honor. -
ROTARY CLUB OF HARRIS COUNTY HONORS THE HARRIS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TEACHER OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER 2023
HAMILTON, GA (OCTOBER 25, 2023) – The Rotary Club of Harris County presents a monthly award to honor teachers for their wonderful work to encourage the love of learning in our youth.
The Teacher of the Month for September 2023 was Harris County High School’s Avian Baker, who teaches English.
Principal Lindie Snyder shared, “With a passion for teaching that shines through every lesson, Ms. Baker is a true inspiration to her students. She creates a safe and effective learning environment by building positive relationships with her students and setting high expectations that reflect her belief in their abilities."

HAMILTON, GA (MAY 11, 2023) – Last week, the Harris County School District (HCSD) hosted its annual “Evening with the Stars” recognition banquet at Oakhurst Farm in West Point, Ga., to honor those who have earned awards or completed their career during the 2022-2023 academic year.

HARRIS COUNTY SCHOOL TEACHER CHOSEN FOR THE WRBL KINETIC GOLDEN APPLE AWARD
HAMILTON, GA (APRIL 4, 2023) – Jay Borden, an agricultural teacher at Harris County High School (HCHS) in Hamilton, Ga., was presented the Kinetic Credit Union Golden Apple Award in partnership with WRBL News 3. This honor is given to educators who are nominated by the community who make a positive impact on students. -

Jennifer Lean, third grade teacher at Park Elementary School in Hamilton, Georgia, is one of 10 finalists for the 2024 Georgia Teacher of the Year! -
PARK ELEMENTARY TEACHER AWARDED PAGE EDUCATOR GRANT
HAMILTON, GA. – MARCH 2023 – Heather Wyche at Park Elementary School of the Harris County School District (HCSD) has received a 2023 Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Educator Grant. With these funds, Wyche will buy supplies for a project based on alternative methods of written expression for children with special needs. The multisensory manipulatives will support students as they develop readiness and foundational skills for writing. -
HARRIS COUNTY SCHOOL TEACHER NAMED A NASA JPL SOLAR SYSTEM AMBASSADOR
HAMILTON, GA (MARCH 28, 2023) – A Park Elementary teacher has been selected as a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s (JPL) Solar System Ambassador (SSA).
Heather Westad, a first-grade teacher, was recently selected to be part of the SSA program, which is intended to communicate the science and excitement of NASA's space exploration missions and discoveries through such volunteers with the people in their communities.

HAMILTON, GA (MAY 23, 2022) – Recently, the Harris County School District (HCSD) hosted its second “Evening with the Stars” recognition banquet at Oakhurst Farm in West Point, Ga., to honor those who have earned awards or completed their career during the 2021-2022 academic year.
Honorees were treated to a steak dinner in the pastoral setting at the 150-acre agritourism destination in northwest Harris County. -
HARRIS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT APPOINTS NEW HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
HAMILTON, GA. (FEBRUARY 22, 2022) – In a shift of responsibilities, the Harris County Board of Education has appointed a new principal for Harris County High School (HCHS).
Effective March 1, Lindie Snyder will officially be the HCHS principal. She will be moving from Creekside Intermediate School in Cataula, Ga., where she has served as principal since June 1, 2018. Creekside educates the county’s fifth and sixth graders. Prior to that appointment, she had served the district in a variety of capacities since 2001. -
HARRIS COUNTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER NAMED A 2022 GEORGIA YOUTH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER STEM SCHOLAR
HAMILTON, GA (DECEMBER 7, 2021) – Park Elementary School teacher, Catherin Toney, has been named a 2022 STEM Scholar by the Georgia Youth Science & Technology Center (GYSTC).
Toney is among a group of 23 talented Georgia teachers recognized for their innovative classroom activities that result in critical science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) instruction for elementary and middle school students. STEM scholars are selected for their overall dedication to teaching that promotes STEM in their schools and communities. -
HARRIS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCES TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND SUPPORT PERSON OF THE YEAR
FORTSON, GA (OCTOBER 28, 2021) – The Harris County School District has announced the Teacher of the Year and Support Person of the Year.
New Mountain Hill Elementary’s (NMHE) Second-grade Teacher Jessica Burns has been selected as the District Teacher of the Year.
The Support Person of the Year for the district is Shannon Cotton of Mulberry Creek Elementary (MCE).
