Welcome to the Harris County High School Work-Based Learning website.  The WBL program allows the students to transition from school to work while improving their employability skills and gaining more knowledge about possible careers.  The purpose of this site is to give all WBL students full access to all information related to the Work-Based Learning.  Please become familiar with this site by navigating through all tabs, links and information that is available.  Let your future begin now!

    Requirements for participating in the Work-Based Learning Program (Semester prior to applying):

    1. Be in Academic Good Standing - 75 or above

    2. Receive no failing grades in any course 

    3. No more than 3 unexcused tardies or 3 unexcused absences in any class

    4. Good behavior record; not more than one referral to ISS and zero OSS

    5. Is a current junior or senior

    6. Is at least 16 years of age

    7. Has a Valid Driver’s License

    8. Will have own transportation registered on campus once approved for WBL

    9. Has at least one physical block on STC or HCHS campus 

    10. Has a work experience/internship lined up and approved by WBL Coordinator

    11. Is able to be scheduled during the scheduled school day to go to work (No shifts starting after 3:30)

    12. Student will need to attend first day of class WBL orientation during their first WBL block release

    13. Students will not considered if they are working in one of the following categories:

    • Home-Based Business
    • Trade work experience that violates GA Labor Laws relating to those under 18 years of age
    • Business where their immediately family member is their “grading” supervisor
    • Mobile service with no physical business address separate from their personal home address
    • Business the student owns and operates with no immediate supervisor above them and it is a mobile service or home based business
