• Welcome to Sports Medicine & Medical Services Internship!!

    Katelyn McCall ATC, EdS

I am originally from Milwaukee, WI.  I received my Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training from the University of WI-Oshkosh (2006). I moved to Columbus to complete my masters in Health and Physical Education (2008) at CSU while participating in the Hughston Athletic Training Fellowship. I worked as the head Athletic Trainer at HCHS from 2006-2013 and then at HCCMS from 2014-2019.  I most recently earned my EdS in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College in 2018.

Sports Medicine is a 3rd class option in the Healthcare Pathway.  My classroom and Athletic Training Lab are located at the Science and Technology Center (STC).  It's a great class for anyone interested in the healthcare field, especially those interested in becoming Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists, and Orthopedics.  It's a great foundation to learn about injuries- how they happen, how to evaluate, and how to treat them. Below is  link to the syllabus to see what we cover over the semester.

Medical Services Internship is a class recommended for students after they take the Sports Medicine Class. Students will be assigned to work with different-in-season sports at HCHS, HCCMS and Creekside.  The students will have the opportunity to put what they learned in Sports Medicine to use.  Many of the class hours will be completed outside of the standard class time.  For students who are interested it's important for them to have reliable transportation, and if they have jobs, to have flexible hours/scheduling.
