Substitute Teacher Employment Process

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Substitute Teacher for the Harris County School District (HCSD). The educational requirement to become a Substitute Teacher is a high school diploma/GED or higher.

To submit a substitute teacher application, please follow these steps:

Prior to completion, be sure to have available:

• OFFICIAL transcripts from earning your high school diploma/GED certificate or college/university for attaching/uploading in the process
  
  
• At least two (2) Professional References with email addresses. Please note: These should be Former Supervisors. References from friends and relatives are not acceptable.
  
  
• A current Georgia Teaching Certificate or Substitute Training Course Diploma for attaching/uploading in the process.

If you do not have either a current Georgia Teaching Certificate or Substitute Training Course Diploma, you must complete the STEDI Online Substitute Training Course with a composite passing score of 85% or better. The investment is $39.95 per person and can be purchased online with a Visa® or Mastercard®. The course is designed by Utah State University Substitute Teaching Institute and delivered by STEDI.org. You will be required to attach/upload the SubDiploma to your Harris County School District application. Click the logo or click here to link to the two-page document regarding how to take the course:

To view and complete the online application (go to www.harris.k12.ga.us, "Employment," "Harris County Current Job Openings," and choose "Substitute," and click on "Apply" (the red box to the right).

Once the application has been completed with the appropriate documentation, send an email to Ms. Tracy Munoz at munoz-t@harris.k12.ga.us indicating that you have submitted the application. This alerts us to look for your application for review.
